GROWTH GROUPS

LIFE IS BETTER IN A GROUP

We believe spiritual growth flows out of two basic commitments:

·      A commitment to God and the Bible

·      A commitment to significant Christian relationships

To help develop these significant relationships, we have created "Growth Groups."

It is our goal to have every member of our church involved in a Growth Group or another similar small group. While most groups are sermon-based, some are special interest groups that focus on topics such as parenting, marriage recovery, and Christian basics for new believers.

The groups meet for three 10-week sessions from late September through June, taking a break during the summer months.

What is a Growth Groups?

Groups are made up of 10-16 people who meet in homes throughout the area weekly to share, to study God's Word, and to support one another spiritually in a non-judgmental, open environment. Most of the groups study a sermon-based curriculum. A 10-week commitment is required.

What is the goal of Growth Groups?

Our goal is to strengthen relationships by providing a healthy environment where Christians can learn and grow (Need To Know/Need To Grow moments). Forming stronger relationships with our brothers and sisters equips us to support and assist one another as we journey along this Christian path. This path should not be walked alone...as goes the Growth Groups, so goes the Church.

Why are we doing this?

Scripture provides us with the blueprint as we strive to fulfill our mission of ministering to and serving others.

Matthew 28:19-20 New International Version (NIV)

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Acts 2:46-47 King James Version (KJV)

46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the “temple,” and breaking bread from “house to house”, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

How important are Growth Groups?

Here at the Church of Christ at Bouldercrest, Growth Groups are the hub of our ministry. It is in this setting that real ministry of the Church takes place, as we study God's Word while supporting and sharing our lives with one another. We believe that meeting together on a regular basis is time well spent. Our goal each year is to have at least 80% of our adult membership involved on a weekly basis.

When and where do they meet?

Growth Groups meet on various nights of the week in homes throughout the metropolitan area and beyond. Most evening groups meet from 7-9 pm. The daytime groups meeting times vary.

How long do they last?

Each Growth Group session lasts 10 weeks. We have Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions. At the end of each session, you will have the choice of staying in the same group, trying a new group, or even taking a break. Most groups stay together throughout the entire year. Growth Groups do not meet from mid-June through August.

What is the required commitment?

Joining a Growth Group requires a 10-week commitment to attend weekly meetings and do the homework in advance. Obviously, allowances are made for sickness, vacation, work conflicts, and other special events, but we strongly encourage attendance outside of those circumstances. This commitment is the key to a strong Growth Group. You have the first three weeks to attend the group to make sure it's a good fit for you.
